Louise O’Neill is the CEO at Palliative Care Queensland, a peak body delivering advocacy, community education and its signature program Ambulance Wish Queensland.

Louise O’Neill is the CEO at Palliative Care Queensland, a peak body delivering advocacy, community education and its signature program Ambulance Wish Queensland. She started her career as a registered nurse and has over 18 years of experience in the Australian Public Service, holding senior executive positions across health, disability and communications portfolios. She moved to the not-for-profit sector in 2020, taking up the position of CEO of the Aged Care Workforce Industry Council.

In the Commonwealth Department of Health, Louise worked across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Aged Care portfolios. She played an integral role in designing the Living Longer Living Better Aged Care reforms of 2012 and led the National Dementia program. Louise has a Communications degree and an executive master’s in Public Administration. Louise has a pragmatic reform-focused vision for palliative care as well as a strong understanding of the policy setting for palliative care in Queensland. She is dedicated to supporting people with life-limiting illnesses, their families, all palliative care professionals and the many volunteers in this sector to ensure that all Queenslanders have access to quality palliative and end-of-life care.
