Hannah Burrows and Daniel Derrin

Drs Hannah Burrow and Daniel Derrin are both academics, specialising in Viking Age and medieval Scandinavian literature, culture and history, and literature from the Renaissance period, respectively.

Dr Hannah Burrows is Director of the Centre for Scandinavian Studies at the University of Aberdeen, where she researches and teaches Viking Age and medieval Scandinavian literature, culture, and history. She has published on Viking poetry, the Icelandic sagas, medieval law, environmental humanities, and the history of humour and emotions. Hannah is also interested in the adaptation of Old Norse texts in the present day, and has collaborated with writers, performers, and directors on creative community projects in Scotland. Hannah is Honorary Secretary of the Viking Society for Northern Research, the editor for Medieval Scandinavia for Routledge Resources Online, and on the editorial board of the journal Viking and Medieval Scandinavia. She has also worked at the universities of Sydney, Durham, and Vienna.

Dr Daniel Derrin is an Academic Skills Adviser at the University of Aberdeen with a research interest in cultural history. He has published academic work on literature from the Renaissance period and has long-standing interests in the modern legacies of ancient Graeco-Roman culture and the history of education.
